Gore-Tex® for Footwear:
Gore-Tex®: Gore-Tex® fabrics lead the industry in providing durable waterproof/breathable protection. The Gore-Tex® membrane is completely impervious to rain, sleet, and snow, while allowing perspiration to pass through it. Tiny pores in the Gore-Tex® membrane allow perspiration to escape while preventing water from entering. In order to meet the waterproof standards of Gore-Tex® footwear, shoes must pass a rigorous waterproof flex test, whereby 75 percent of the shoe is submerged in a bath of water and repeatedly flexed. The test measures the number of flexes the shoe can withstand before leakage is detected. A minimum of 300,000 flexes (equivalent to five days of constant flexing) must be attained before the shoe is granted the Gore-Tex® waterproof rating.
Gore-Tex® XCR®: Like traditional Gore-Tex®, Gore-Tex® XCR® fabric is durable, waterproof, and windproof, but is even more breathable than ever before. FYI: XCR® stands for extended comfort range.
